The Lagos State Government has approved a 13 percent increase in fares for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and standard Bus Reform Initiative (BRI) services across the state.
The new rates is set to take effect from Monday, March 2, 2026.
The development was disclosed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) in a statement shared via its official X account.
According to LAMATA, the fare adjustment is aimed at sustaining public transportation operations in the face of rising operational costs and prevailing inflationary pressures. The agency also advised commuters to make adequate plans ahead of the implementation of the new fare structureçß.
