The commissioning of the Gateway Airport in Ogun State was marked by grandeur, dignity, and a strong sense of pride as top government officials, business leaders, and citizens gathered to witness the historic occasion.

The event commenced with an opening prayer led by the Diocese of Remo, setting a solemn and reflective tone for the ceremony. The Chief Imam of Remo also offered prayers, emphasizing unity and blessings for the success of the project. recitation of the Ogun State Anthem, followed by the National Anthem, upon the arrival of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), alongside other distinguished dignitaries.

A major highlight of the event was the official commissioning of the airport by President Tinubu, who performed the symbolic tape cutting ceremony, marking the formal opening of the Gateway Airport. Following this, the President, accompanied by key dignitaries, embarked on a tour of the airport facilities and proceeded to commission other landmark projects within the Airport .

Seated beside the President during the event was the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, further underscoring the national importance of the occasion. The event also witnessed the presence of several state governors and representatives, including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat. Other notable attendees included governors from Niger, Ondo, Ekiti, and Gombe States, as well as the Deputy Governor of Oyo State.

Prominent personalities from the business community, such as Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola, were also in attendance. Elder statesmen, including Olusegun Osoba, former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, graced the occasion. The Minister of Aviation, the Minister of Finance, international business figures, and the foreign contractors responsible for the construction of the airport were equally present, highlighting the global and national significance of the project.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, delivered a compelling address, speaking on the strategic importance of the airport and its expected impact on the economic growth and development of Ogun State.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo expressed deep gratitude to God for the successful completion of the airport, describing it as a remarkable achievement for the state and the nation at large.

The event also featured widespread appreciation for President Tinubu and the visiting governors, who expressed satisfaction with the infrastructural strides made by the Ogun State Government. Particular commendation was given to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, for his visionary leadership and commitment to development.
