I've had my 2016 Discovery 4 for about three years now and it's been mostly trouble free until last month when I started noticing this weird hesitation and a slight shudder when it shifts from second to third under light throttle, especially when the car is cold. Once it warms up it's not as noticeable but it's definitely there and it's making me nervous every time I pull out of the neighborhood. I took it to a general garage and the guy hooked up a scanner and said there were no fault codes so it's probably the valve body or the torque converter on its way out and I should just drive it until it gets worse. That didn't exactly fill me with confidence. I've been reading on the UK forums that sometimes it's just the fluid needing a change and an adaptation reset because these ZF 8 speeds are supposedly sealed for life but everyone knows that's nonsense in this heat. I'm trying to find a proper Land Rover Transmission Workshop Sharjah that actually knows these ZF units well enough to do a proper service with the right fluid and filter kit before I start panicking about a five figure rebuild. Anyone else had a similar shudder on their D4 or Range Rover Sport and managed to sort it with just a fluid flush and software update, or am I looking at something more terminal?
